Importance of Puthuppally Pally
Standing on the hillock of Elamthuruth, the St George Church (Puthuppally Pally) presents a sight of serenity, tranqulity and divinity. The garndeur of its structure will leave you breathless. The surroundings look regal in beauty. The ancient river Kodoor in front of the church and the vast stretch of lush green paddy fields beyond, paints a wonderful panoramic view of the country side

In between the river and the church, there is a small shrine (Kurishupally) with a mighty granite Cross on its top. This Cross has remained a symbol of hope, peace and assurance to many all these years. Pedestrains and passengers passing this way often drop in at the Shrine to pray and give their offerings
What you can see inside the Shrine is a painting of Gee Varghese Sahadha with his piercing blue eyes and spear aimed at a dreadful dragon. The maiden in the background with her hands joined in worship is the picture of the princess whom the saint saved from the claws of the monster during one of his Knights errant.

The church in its present form looks imperial, a placid atmosphere filling it with the presence of celestial calm - an ideal situation to spend any length of time in meditation and silent prayer. With its façade projecting over other building in and around, the church can be spotted even from far off places.

This house of God, at present, has nine Altars, each dedicated to Marthashe Mooni, Mother Mary, Morth Ulithy, St.Thomas, St.George, St. Greegorios of Parumala, St.Vattasseril Thirumeni, Bahanan Sahadha and Kuriakose Mor Greegorios of Pampady, respectively. The main Altar still remains the one dedicated to St.George.

We have the God made solar system, the celestial one. And, today, we have in our church a God sanctified solar system, the terrestrial one - nine patron Saints with Jesus at the centre guarding us from all evil. Are we not a specially blessed lot? ------ Remember: God's Grace is received in charity and not as a matter of right.

The church remains open on all days .The daily activities begin at 5 a.m. At the close of the day, vespers start at 5.30 p.m. The daily activities come to an end at 9 p.m. On Sundays the first Eucharistic Celebration starts at 6.30 a.m and the second, which is always Tri - Mass, at 9 a.m. On other days too Holy Mass is said, almost regularly, either to celebrate a canonical feast or at the request of some parishioner.
